It all helps!!!
OUR FIRST OPEN DAY
The Open Day was on the 15th June 2010 and was a great success and much enjoyed by both visitors and therapists alike. We got to meet lots of new people and enjoyed being able to tell them, show them and let them try the various therapies.
Tea and Cakes and a bit of healing in the Sensi Training Room
Some of the Therapists having a well-earned rest at the end of the day.
OUR SECOND OPEN DAY was on Saturday 8th January 2011 and it had a New Year theme called "Come the Resolution" . The day kicked off with a workshop run by Jayne Owen on Making and Keeping your Resolutions for 2011. We had many interested people come to see us and experience free taster sessions in many of the therapies that we have on offer here. Particularly busy were Judith Johnson with her Emmett Technique which gives such quick relief to stiff and even seemingly locked joints. Jasmine Ogilvie gave some mini-facials and aromatherapy and Deb Byers was busy giving treatments on her massage chair; Kiera Jones was finding that people wanted to experience Hopi Ear Candling and Reflexology and Linda Dayman was kept very busy giving Hydrotherm taster treatments.
We raised over a hundred pounds for Shelter Cymru on the day by people giving donations in exchange for treatments and thank you very much to all those who gave so generously. We also had a Buy a Square Raffle and all the prizes were vouchers dontated by the therapists.
Upstairs we had Refreshments and we would like to thank Absolute Treats- a small local company based in St Clears, for their wonderful vegetarian cup cakes. See www.absolutetreats.co.uk. The business can accommodate specific dietary requirements for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and diabetic.
Our next event is on Thursday March 31st and this time it is an OPEN EVENING with a focus on Stress. There are many very effective ways of dealing with the harmful effects that stress can have on our lives and health and wellbeing. Some of our therapists will be giving short talks and demonstrations and there will be a 'market place' where you can purchase such things as aromatherapy oils that are so effective in relaxing and Relaxation CD's - both music and from our Hypnotherapists.
At Alliance Therapy we are busy starting the New Year by planning the year's events, workshops and courses. Please keep an eye on the Courses/Workshops/Events page to see what is coming up. We are very happy to welcome Hazel Reitz to our team - Hazel will be putting on a range of fun workshops aimed at teaching us how to have fun with paint and many other mediums. It is part of a good and helpful holistic approach to life to take some time out occasionally and do something just for the fun of it. These workshops are not for those who can draw - but for those who can't! Hazel has many ideas on what she can get us to have fun doing - so keep an eye out! If you like the idea of messing about with paints, felts, fabrics etc then let Cheryll know and she will keep you informed as new ideas come along. All you need to do is tell her you might be interested and let her have your phone number or email address. Erin Macdonnell -is starting a new 10 week course from February - designed to have a fun and easy going look at how we can discover our natural psychic talents. See the workshops. courses and events page for more details.
We are busy now planning two very important areas of our work - stress management and maternity care.
To begin with we are holding our next event - and Open Evening on Stress Management on Thursday 31st March at 5.30 - 8.30. There will be a talk on Causes, Risks and Remedies of stress and then demonstrations from several therapists. This will then be followed by an opportunity to try different therapies out, have a free Stress Consultation with our professional Stress Consultants - Jayne Owen and Debra Byers, have a go at some stress questionnaires etc. We will have a 'market-place' too with stress-busting products and one to one advice from Jasmine - on Aromatherapy for Stress and from Cheryll on Bach Flower Remedies, so you could go home with a personally made blend of oils or remedies.
We are in the process of finalizing our Maternity Care Clinic and will bring you more news as it comes along. We are looking forward very much to working with the local midwifes so that together we can bring some much needed holistic health care to all maternity services in Carmarthenshire.
April 2011 - Our Stress Management Evening on the 31st March went well. Quite a few people came and all sat and listened to a lively talk given by Jayne Owen and Debra Byers, which was well received by all. We had a good laugh at one point, as Debra asked everyone to focus on the lovely music that had been busily playing away in the background - only as soon as she wanted us to listen to it - it just stopped! Talk about comedy timing - it was perfect!! Anyway we got it going again and did some breathing exercises to help us learn the value of breathing from deeper in the chest. A very simple, yet effective way to make one relax the chest and shoulders and so reduce the feelings of stress and anxiety.
Maternity news: We are launching our new Positive Pregnancy + service at the Child Safety Fun Day on Tuesday 19th April at the Leisure Centre in Carmarthen. For further information on this see our Maternity page. Further updates will be added on there as they come along.
We have had two lovely and very successful workshops given by Hazel Reitz - our new member of the team. The first was a beginners workshop on watercolour painting and last Saturday we had the first Silk Painting workshop. These workshops are looking to be very popular and so if you might be interested in having a creative break from it all every now and then - please come and let us know. Further workshops are going to be subjects such as : Silk Painting, Water Colour Painting, Felting, Bookmaking, Marbling, Patchwork and Quilting, Crochet.
Watercoloour Painting Workshop
December 2011
It has certainly been a busy year for us at Alliance Therapy. The Creative Living Workshops have been a regular event and are such wonderful fun. We have learnt how to make felt and do silk painting and coming up is the marbling workshop and then there will be further workshops all during 2012.
Last Saturday we had a major event - our Natural Health Show in Lammas Street in Carmarthen. This was an opportunity for us all to get together and show case our selves and our Centre - of which we are rightly proud. We have recently welcomed some new faces to our team too: Natalie Sen - Naturopath, Karen Holloway - with the Amethyst Bio Mat, Katy Evans - Crystal Therapy, Toby Mackie - Swedish Massage and Alan Burnett - Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist.
The Health Show was a great success and well attended and we thank those that came and supported us and we hope that you found the event was helpful and enjoyable.
Another area of growth at the Centre has been a gentle introduction of some beautiful organic products. Judith has brought Natures Little Helpers to us from a company based near Cardiff where they produce lovely products made from honey. Hand, face and body creams and balms are available and also some beeswax candles.
Cheryll has become a Consultant for Neals Yard Organic Beauty and now stocks a large range of the high quality and lovely products in blue bottles. The Neals Yard company says - it wants to change the world - one blue bottle at a time. The products are organic and many carry the seal of the Soil Association which is not easy to get! They contain nothing that it wouldn't be safe to eat! Certainly no parabens or petroleums! All the certified organic ingredients are ethically and sustainably sourced. The glass bottles are fully recyclable, the plastic bottles are made from 100% recycled material and the paper and card are recycled or from sustainably managed sources and where ever possible they use vegetable-based inks in printing. This is a truly principled British company and this is why Cheryll has decided to stock their products over anyone else's.
Jasmine also stocks an organic range of products aimed at the mother and baby - they are from Vital Touch and are the Natalia range. Do come in and have a look. There could not be a better or kinder gift for a mum-to-be or a newly arrived little one.
The January workshops have come and gone and were all very successful. Not everyone who wanted to could get on to the Crystal Workshop - so this will be repeated late in February or early March - please do get in touch if you were one of unsuccessful ones or if you would like to put your name down for this brilliant workshop.
Another workshop was the Beginners Guide to Patchwork and Quilting with Hazel. This was again fully booked and was great fun. We had genuine beginners and they all happily left the afternoon proudly clutching a new work in progress. The next workshop to build on the first is on February 25th. Places may well be available for this - so please do enquire.
Another one of Judith's excellent Emm Tech workshops which is held over two half days has just completed and was greatly enjoyed by all. This is a fantastic-ly simple technique that is easily learnt and has the most mind blowing results. A very worthwhile course for anyone interested in helping either family, friends or clients with pain and tensions all over the body.
