ALISON TERRY
RGN DipCounselling BACP-Counselling
I am a qualified counsellor and an Accredited Member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy)
This ensures that I work safely and ethically with clients, and attend regular supervision and training.
I have achieved a substantial level of training and experience that has been approved by BACP.
Previously I have worked for several counselling charities, and an Alcohol Advisory Service. Along side my Private practice I currently work as an NHS counsellor.
I originally qualified as Registered General Nurse and worked for over 25 years in hospitals and general practice.
My work as a nurse has led me to believe that many people need and want more emotional support than busy medical professionals are able to offer.
I believe counselling can be a powerful, effective and healing 'talking treatment'.
My counselling training (Professional Diploma in Counselling) is integrative, Person Centred and Humanistic.
I have undertaken further training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
How can counselling help?
Counselling or talking therapy is now recognised as an effective form of treatment for depression and anxiety.
Sometimes talking to an independent person might be useful.
Counselling can help when we need extra support.
I can offer
TIME to talk confidentially and be listened to on a regular basis
SAFETY. A place for you to explore and understand difficult thoughts and
feelings.
